Meiji Period
The first carved in low relief with prowling tigers; the cover surmounted with a finial in the form of a seated lion, 17.7cm (7in) high; the second lacquered and carved in shishiaibori with the strong boy Kintaro slaying a gigantic carp with a knife, signed in a kidney-shaped cartouche Masamitsu Monjin Kikuji saku; 16½cm (6½in) high; with separate wood stand. (4).
