Meiji Period
Comprising two boxes and covers, both carved in low relief, the first with an elephant trampling a tiger underfoot, signed in seal form Tomichika; 3.2cm x 12.2cm x 8½cm (1¼in x 4¾in x 3 3/8in); the second of circular form carved with a writhing dragon, unsigned, 6½cm (2½in) diam; the third of Gamma Sennin carrying a family of toads wrapped within a large lotus leaf, strapped to his back, unsigned, 8cm (3 1/16in) high; the fourth carved from a single tusk, with a procession of elephants walking behind each other, with removable fitted wood stand, unsigned, 30½cm (12in) long.
