Late Edo Period, 18th-19th century
The thirty two plate suji bachi black lacquered with gold lacquer to the suji, fitted with a Hineno jikoro and having small gold lacquered fukigaeshi, on the front a gold lacquered shell maedate. An (associated) mask of black lacquered leather well formed with a hair moustache and a black lacquered ita mono yodarekake. The ni mai tachi do having a black lacquered muneita with gold lacquered mon. Ko sode, black lacquered shino gote and suneate and kusari haidate. Constructed of kiritsuke kozane, the shikoro, sode, do and usazuri lacquered gold and laced with blue kebiki odoshi. Contained in an armour box, with leather cover and a wood stand. (2).
