A sabi nuri tosei gusoku

Late Edo Period, 18th/19th century
The sixty two plate suji bachi russet lacquered and fitted with a tosei mabisashi, a black-lacquered Hineno jikoro with small fukigaeshi, to the front a maedate of a flower and the mon at its centre and two leaves. A menpo russet lacquered with hair moustache and chin tuft and silvered teeth, the yodarekake black lacquered. A pair of russet lacquered wakibiki. The ni mai okegawa do russet lacquered and laced both mune tori and koshi tori, a leather tsuru bakuro on the front and an ukezutsu (associated) on the back. The kusazuri of hon kozane, ita mono ko sode russet lacquered, black lacquered shino gote and suneate and iyo haidate. Laced overall with dark blue in kebiki style the sode in sugake. The kanamono of silvered copper and shibuichi, contained in an elaborate two-piece armour box. Together with a fan-shaped device in black with the mon in gold, probably the top of a banner and a wood stand. (3).
