Footnotes

鳳凰図銀平壺 四代秦蔵六 昭和35年(1960年)

The first Hata Zoroku (1823-1890) of Kyoto was renowned for his bronze vessels imitating Chinese wares. Although the subsequent history of the family does not appear to be documented, it would seem that his successors specialised in producing works destined for the export market, as is represented by the vase offered here.
