A tall slender silver and bronze vase

By Sekiya Shiro (1907-1994), Showa Period
In the form of a bud, worked in hagiawase with long textured strips inlaid in silver, shakudo and copper and partially splashed in gold, the base signed with hammered signature Shiro; with tomobako titled and inscribed by the artist, Sekiya Shiro. 39½cm (15½in) high. (2).

銀赤銅矧合花瓶 関谷四郎 昭和時代

Born in Akita prefecure in 1907, Sekiya Shiro moved to Tokyo in 1928 and studied under Kawachi Muneaki who was a hammered metal artist. He specialized in the hagiawase technique and was appointed a 'Living National Treasure' in 1977.
