Cast in two separate sections, comprising the bird of prey resting on a craggy rock with its head raised in an alert manner on the lookout for prey, its legs of gilt, its eyes double-inlaid in gilt and shakudo; the base of the rocky crag with chiselled signature Bikai saku, with integral wood stand, together with tomobako, the inside of the lid signed and sealed by the artist Nakano Bikai saku, Tankin shiki with seal Tankin. 46.4cm (18 1/8in) high, including the stand.
