Of upright form, the saya bearing a kinji ground, each side with a sunken panel, one showing a comic scene of a porter falling while his baskets of vegetables spill around him, to the amusement of a woman walking by; the other with butterflies and flowers, all inlaid in typical Shibayama style; the interior four-case inro lacquered in gold hiramakie and takamakie with cranes flying over reeds by a stream, inscribed at a later date Shibayama. 11.1cm (4 3/8in) high.
