Of rectangular form with a galleried top and an asymmetrical arrangement of sliding and hinged cupboard doors and three drawers, inset with wood and ivory panels elaborately carved in low relief with two rakan, one holding a hossu, the other a vase of peonies, as well as kacho-ga scenes including a peacock among rockwork, quail and mythological beasts; the hinged doors applied with handles in the form of a pine cone, carved with the skilled archer Mitsunaka trapping two oni in the woods, some details inlaid in mother-of-pearl, signed Mitsutoshi with seal Otani. 105cm x 76½cm x 28.2cm (41¼in x 30 1/8in x 11 1/16in).
