The first a vase inset with an ivory body carved in relief with an lavish scene from Ryujin's castle below the ocean waves depicting a procession of dignitaries led by the dragon king's daughter Oto-hime, bearing gifts from her father to Tawara Toda, signed Shugetsu to; the foot, shoulder and neck enamelled with floral motifs; the base of the vase signed Mitsuyuki, 24cm (9½in) high; the second vessel of hexagonal lobed form, applied with clumps of kiku in enamels and the characters for longevity, the quatrefoil cover surmounted by a shishi finial, 19.1cm (7½in) high.
