Footnotes

Provenance:
Ambika Dhurandhar, the artist's daughter.
Private UK collection since 1995.

Throughout his life in Bombay Dhurandhar was continuously commissioned to create illustration artwork for book, magazine and newspaper publishers, poster-makers and advertisers. This fully-finished examples draws delightfully on contemporary cosmopolitan Bombay in its Art Deco era; the example is similar to the genre then also current in Singapore, Hong Kong and Shanghai.
