With stout spike of stiff diamond section struck on one side of the flattened base with a mark, a cross and two circles within a shield, triangular axe-blade with oblique cutting-edge and struck with the same mark on one side, sloping beak-shaped fluke (some lamination), open socket, and four side-straps, the shorter one made separately, on wooden staff of octagonal section with domed brass-headed nails at the top and stamped with three 'M'-shaped marks with a bar across the top along each side (some light pitting)
