A Halberd
Late 16th Century, Probably German

With stout spike of stiff diamond section, axe-blade with slightly concave cutting-edge, curved in above and below, and etched with an elaborate coat-of-arms at a later date on one side, beak-shaped fluke struck with a small heart-shaped mark on one side, open socket, four side-straps, two made separately, and iron securing ring, on wooden staff, possibly original, of square section cut with lines along the angles
