A European Horseman's Axe
Probably 17th Century

With axe-head with crescentic cutting-edge drawn-out to a sharp point above and below, ovoidal socket with bevelled edge and extended to form a sharply-pointed beak-shaped fluke of diamond section, and surmounted by bluntly-pointed faceted spike, on wooden haft of octagonal section studded with iron nails at the top (some pitting)
