A Fine Russian 1855 Pattern Infantry Officer's Sabre
Reign Of Tsar Alexander II (1855-1881), Dated 1855

With highly polished curved fullered single-edged blade etched with the date and 'Zlatoust' in Russian against a gilt ground along the back at the forte, the forte finely etched and parcel-gilt over each side with differing elaborate designs of panoplied Russian arms and armour against a ground of foliage, regulation gilt-brass hilt cast and chased with foliage and comprising knuckle-guard with side-bar stamped with illegible maker's name in a slender rectangle beneath, downcurved rear quillon, threaded oval tang button, and ribbed leather-covered grip bound with twisted copper wire, in original steel scabbard (throat-mount missing) with suspension loop and ring for suspension, in fine condition retaining most of its original gilding
