A Rare Russian 1914 Pattern Naval Officer's Sword
Reign Of Tsar Nicholas II (1894-1917), Circa 1914

With broad highly polished curved fullered blade etched on one side of the forte with a panel of symmetrical scrolling foliage framing an Imperial eagle between the inscription 'Zlatoust Arms Factory' in Russian, and struck with initials 'P Sh' in Russian on the other, large gilt-brass regulation hilt comprising two bars of oval section swept-up to join the knuckle-guard, downcurved rear quillon stamped 'A' beneath, flat hexagonal langets with bevelled edges, pommel and back-piece in one, the latter with cypher of Nicholas II in an oval on the back above a border of laurel, threaded tang button, ribbed leather-covered grip bound with twisted brass wire, and bullion dress sword-knot, in original wood-lined dark brown leather scabbard (minor damage) with gilt-brass locket, chape and suspension mount each engraved with double lines, two rings for suspension, and in fine condition retaining most of its original gilding
