With curved fullered blade double-edged towards the point and etched over half its length on each side with a trophy of arms amid foliage involving a man-in-the-moon on one side, and a sun-in-splendour on the other, the forte on each side etched and gilt (gilding worn) with a martial trophy below later etched Napoleonic battle honours dated from 1813 to 1815, brass hilt comprising square langets, one with enamelled guard's star, rear quillon, stirrup knuckle-guard cast and chased with martial trophies and foliage, lion's head pommel and back-piece, cord-bound leather-covered grip (worn) bound with twisted silver wire, and leather and bullion sword-knot (knot detached), in original steel scabbard painted black with brass mount and ring for suspension (some wear overall)
