With bright slightly curved fullered blade double-edged towards the point, steel hilt of regulation type comprising lozenge-shaped langets, the outer one set with faceted cut-steel beadwork in imitation of brilliants, faceted rear quillon with waisted point, knuckle-guard cut and set with beadwork en suite with the langet, characteristic coffin-shaped pommel encircled with a border of faceted beadwork and applied Prince of Wales' feathers, crown and motto in two-colour gold on top, and spirally-fluted ebony grip 'bound' with faceted cut-steel beadwork, in original wood-lined steel scabbard with three elongated oval openings along each side lined with shagreen (shagreen with some damage, some scattered pitting throughout), and two split-rings for suspension

The elaborate nature of this sword's hilt probably indicates that it was ordered and carried by a senior officer of the regiment. George, Prince of Wales was, at the time of this sword's manufacture, Colonel of the regiment and is known for his influence with regard to uniform design and may have been responsible for the adoption of this pattern of sword.
