With 17th century bright slightly curved blade double-edged towards the point and cut with three fullers along the back for most of its length on each side, the lower fuller on each side at the forte stamped 'Andrea' and 'Ferara' respectively between 'X' and serrated sickle-marks, regulation brass hilt of fluted bars (one broken) incorporating an elaborate crowned 'WIV' in an oval, pierced inner-guard, rear quillon, pommel and partly fluted back-piece in one, and wire-bound fishskin-covered grip, in original steel scabbard (some wear and pitting) engraved with maker's details in an oval on one side at the locket, and with two rings for suspension
