A 1796 Pattern Heavy Cavalry Sword Of The Warwickshire Yeomanry
Early 19th Century

With fullered blade double-edged towards the point, the forte on one side etched with owner's name 'Croxall', the royal arms and motto beneath a baldachin, and with a female portrait bust above amid foliage, and on the other with a trophy of arms and banner, the latter inscribed 'Warwickshire Yeomary (sic)', 'GR' crowned beneath a baldachin and foliage, regulation steel hilt with oval piercings, knuckle-guard pierced for a sword-knot and engraved 'G' over '41', pommel and back-piece in one, and ribbed leather-covered grip (worn, some damage), in original steel scabbard with two rings for suspension (some wear and pitting throughout)
