An Unusual Ottoman Enamelled Jambiya
19th Century

With finely watered slightly curved sharply tapering blade with slender medial ridge over most of its length on each side, the forte with two panels of gold-damascened arabesques on both sides, waisted copper hilt of oval section decorated overall with engraved and gilt foliage enamelled in bright green, turquoise, pink and white, all against a blue enamel ground, in original wood-lined copper scabbard (slightly reduced) en suite and involving three oval panels along each side framing buildings highlighted in black enamel, foliate suspension loop, and gilt bud-shaped terminal (minor losses of enamel)
