Two Turkish Yataghans
The First Dated 1217 A.H. Corresponding To 1807 A.D., The Second 19th Century

The first with slightly recurved single-edged blade engraved with foliate panels on each side towards the forte, one side enclosing deeply struck circular maker's mark, the date and Arabic calligraphy, probably including the owner's and maker's names, and brass-mounted hilt with characteristic walrus-ivory grip-scales (repaired); the second with straight single-edged blade with two punched lines along the back on each side, and pewter-mounted hilt with characteristic walrus-ivory grip-scales (one repaired, some old splits) (2)
