A Spanish 18-Bore Percussion Pistol, And Another Of 16-Bore
The First Mid-19th Century, The Second Dated 1858

The first with earlier two-stage polygonal barrel (probably shortened) with turned and chiselled foliate girdle, octagonal breech section struck at the rear with two gold-lined punzónes of Esteva (similar to Neue Støckel 328, 329) below a gold-lined cross and between three gold-lined foliate marks (some gold missing), gold line, octagonal breech engraved with foliage partly against gold grounds, hammer and earlier flat bevelled lock en suite, the latter inhabited by a bird, figured three-quarter stock (fore-end chipped) with chequered butt, steel mounts en suite with the breech and including side-plate chiselled as a scaled monster, shaped pommel with ring for suspension and long tang extending up to the barrel tang, and trigger-plate with pineapple-shaped finial (ramrod missing, some wear and pitting overall); the second with octagonal barrel inscribed in silver 'Por Pedro Echeverria Año 1858' along the top flats, foliate engraved breech with hinged nipple-protector, foliate engraved back-action lock and mounts, the butt with ring for suspension, and three-quarter stock with chequered butt (ramrod missing) (2)
