Three German Lock Mechanisms, And Various Fittings
16th/17th Century

Of iron, two with springs and working parts decorated with incised line ornament and mounted on a flat axe-head shaped plate, one with single ward-box and the other with double ward-box, the latter retaining its heart-shaped double key-hole escutcheon (incomplete); another, with sprung mechanism retained by rivets with brass floret-shaped heads and operating four hooked bolt catches; a circular iron keyhole escutcheon plate pierced with an engraved double-headed eagle centred on pierced foliage; and two iron keys, one with loop filled with Gothic tracery (some pitting and rust patination) (7)
