A Rapier
Early 17th Century

With slightly tapering single-edged blade double-edged towards the point, rectangular ricasso, hilt comprising bars of circular section with straight quillons widening towards the tips, downcurved arms and double side-ring on the outside, the smaller lower one filled with a plate pierced with small holes, some incised on the outside to resemble stars, inner guard of two bars swept-up to join the forward quillon, rounded ovoidal pommel with button, and grip bound with twisted iron wire (some pitting overall)
