A Spanish Cup-Hilt Rapier
Late 17th Century

With slender tapering blade of slightly flattened diamond section with deep central fuller on each side of the forte stamped 'In Solingin' between cross marks, iron hilt comprising cup-guard with rounded rim, small disc-shaped guardapolvo with beaded border, long slender quillons with turned button terminals, knuckle-guard en suite and with central mouldings, compressed globular pommel with flattened button finial, and grip bound with twisted copper wire
