A Basket-Hilted Backsword Of Scottish Form In 18th Century Style

With blade (possibly earlier) double-edged towards the point and with two shallow fullers along the back for nearly all of its length on each side, the forte struck with various marks on one side, iron guard of notched rounded bars framing engraved thistle leaves, the side ones each with 'ram's horn' terminal pierced with a heart, the ones at the front either side of an engraved thistle head, a pierced and engraved crown above, scrolled wrist-guard, fluted conical pommel with button formed as a thistle head, and some aged gilding overall
