A Scottish Silver-Mounted Regimental Dirk Of The Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders
By Brook & Son, 87 George St., Edinburgh, Edinburgh Silver Hallmarks For 1926

With fullered single-edged blade notched along the back edge over half its length and brightly etched against a dull grey ground along one side with maker's name and address, foliated strapwork involving thistles, crowned GR V cypher and regimental crest and motto, and on the other with a vacant cartouche, crowned monogram and further regimental crest and motto, silver-mounted baluster rootwood grip craved with basketweave and set with silver studs, the pommel carved with leaves and set with a foiled piece of coloured glass, in original wood-lined scabbard covered in black patent leather (some crazing) with locket, chape and mounts for the by-knife (catch missing) and fork cast and chased with pairs of entwined sea monsters, the locket with crowned monogram, the mounts each with a crest and motto, the by-knife and fork en suite with the dirk
