with tapering watered-steel blade and broad back, the forte with a band of floral vines and an inscription-filled frieze on the back, below the forte floral decoration within a cusped and waisted frieze

Footnotes

The inscription reads; 'The servant of the King of Trusteeship, 'Abbas'.

The above is the legend on the seal of the Safavid ruler Shah Abbas (AH 995-1038/ AD 1587-1629) and is usually found on objects belonging to his servants.
