of domed and slightly conical form, the rim decorated in gold with a wide band of inscription-filled cartouches within two narrow bands of continunous foliate scrolls, mail neck guard attached to rim
23 cm. diam.

Inscriptions are as follows:
Qur'an, sura al-Baqara (II), verse 255 and parts of verse 256; traces of a stamp: 'Servant of the King of Trusteeship, 'Abbas'. The latter is the legend on the seal of the Safavid ruler Shah 'Abbas (AH 995-1038/ AD 1587-1629).
