A cold-gilt and gilt copper alloy figure of Padmapani

18th century
The bodhisattva portrayed standing on a lotus plinth with both hands in vitarkamudra, with a five-leaf foliate tiara fronting a double topknot, above long tresses and scarf draped over the shoulders and billowing down the sides to impart a sense of movement, clusters of leaves issuing from just above the elbows, supporting the triple jewels borne on a lotus on the left side, and a foliate plaque on the right, the graceful body bedecked with jewels and necklaces highlighted with black and coral-coloured inlay and wearing a dhoti with finely chased borders, the skin areas of the figure painted with cold-gilt.
