The finely cast deity of wealth portrayed wearing armour and boots, earrings and a tall foliate crown framing his fierce but benevolent face, holding his gem-spewing mongoose in his left hand, his right hand held at chest level holding his now-lost parasol, seated on a caparisoned recumbent lion with separately-cast tail, the lion's head raised and slightly turned, jaws open to reveal its fangs and tongue, the details on the figure's apparel, and the lion's saddle and harness finely chased, all supported on a lotus pedestal, fitted box.

Jambhala is regarded as a deity who bestows wealth. The wealth that he gives is not for luxuries or to be accumulated. It is to be used to eliminate poverty, so that the poor may be released from subsistence in order to practice the Dharma.
