A gilt-bronze figure of Manjushri

18th century
Finely cast, seated in dhyanasana on a double-lotus base, with raised right hand brandishing a sword, left hand in vitarkamudra, a lotus stalk issuing from his elbow rising to his left shoulder, bearing a blossom supporting a book, wearing necklaces, armbands, earrings, long scarf and a dhoti, his long tresses falling over his shoulders, his face, body arms and feet applied with cold-gilt, a five-pointed tiara fronting his tall chignon.
18cm (7in) high.
