A gilt-bronze figure of Shyama Tara

15th century
The youthful figure cast seated lalitasana on a double-lotus plinth, her right hand resting on her knee, her left hand at chest level, each issuing a large blossoming stalk that rises to her shoulders, her right leg resting on a lotus blossom that emerges from the base of the double-lotus plinth, her chignon surmounted by a small image of Amitabha, fronted by a five-leafed diadem, her gentle face with prominent urna flanked by large earrings, her body adorned with jewellery and clad in leggings chased with large floral blossoms and clouds, accented with semi-precious stone inlay, the base plate incised with a lotus roundel centring the character om, bronze stand.
