A gilt-bronze figure of Shakyamuni Buddha

13th century
The historical buddha heavily cast seated in dhyanasana, his right hand in bhumisparsamudra, the left in dhyanamudra, his alert face framed by pendulous ears and a three-pointed headband, rows of tight curls covering his head and usnisa, the well-proportioned body dressed in robes with beaded borders, gathered in pleats between his legs, metal stand, fitted box.
