A parcel-gilt bronze rectangular censer, fangding

Ming Dynasty
Cast standing on four flat blade-shaped legs incised with the design of stylised birds and set at forty-five degree angles to the corners, the rim with two upright lug handles and on the four corners with key-fret flanges, with further flanges dividing each of the sides, the body cast in shallow relief on each side with a taotie mask against a diaper ground below a band of confronting stylised dragons, the detail of the designs highlighted in gilt, the centre of the base bearing an apocraphal Xuande mark.
