A rare inscribed silver-inlaid bronze vessel and cover, dou

Late Ming Dynasty
Cast with compressed globular body and conforming cover, supported on a splayed foot, cast in low relief around the mouth, domed cover and footring with bands containing horizontal registers of curled dragons and geometric patterns inlaid with silver wire, the body flanked by a pair of loop handles surmounted by animal heads spanning a raised bow-string band, the cover set with three evenly spaced loop-shaped knops, the interior of the cover incised with a ten-character inscription in archaic script.

Footnotes

The inscription can be translated as "this precious vessel made for the use of sons and grandsons for ten thousand years".
