A carved amber vase and cover

18th century
Of flattened baluster form, carved around the shoulder with a band of alternating shou characters and pendant ruyi, with bands of key-fret and pendant leaves at the mouth and key-fret and upright ruyi at the foot, the waisted neck flanked a pair of lion-mask handles suspending loose rings, the key-fret banded cover surmounted by a lioness and cub, the translucent material of a deep rich honey tone with some yellow inclusions.
