A carved boxwood ruyi sceptre

Qing Dynasty, 18th century
Fashioned as a stem of lingzhi fungus, the handle carved with figures of the 'Three Stars of Fortune', Luxing and Fuxing supported on two small lingzhi sprigs sprouting from the back of the handle, while Shouxing rides a deer on a notch just above a resting crane, the wood a rich amber colour with lustrous finish. 32cm (12 1/2in) long.
