A carved bamboo brushpot, bitong

17th/18th century
The curving sides carved in shallow relief with a fisherman reaching expectantly into his basket set in shallow waters between a willow tree on the shore and a rock, the details finely incised, the mouth and base mounted with hardwood, the bamboo streaked with tones of yellow and reddish-brown, fitted box.
