Mirza Nasrullah Khan (1835-1901) was titled Dabir al-Mulk in AH 1301/AD 1883, the date of the present lot. He started his career as the officer commanding the arsenal in Tehran. He was exiled for being a member of the Freemasons and spent time in Iraq and Istanbul, but was pardoned and returned to official duty because of his skills in calligraphy and composition. He was a secretary in the Foreign Office and rose to become the minister of Khorasan and the overseer of the shrine of the 8th Imam in Mashhad. See M.
