Mamluk, late 14th Century

Arabic manuscript on paper, 12 leaves, 13 lines to the page written in clear muhaqqaq script in black ink with diacritics and vowel points in black, gold rosettes decorated with blue dots, one illuminated page in blue and gold incorporating sura heading written in naskhi script in white, some defects affecting areas of text, repaired, modern binding with stamped central medallion tooled in gold dots, with flap, 350 x 255 mm.; and a large modern Mamluk-style brown leather binding with flap, covers and flap richly decorated with geometric designs and tooled with gold dots, slightly worn at edges
