Greece, period of Abdul Hamid II (AH 1293-1327/ AD 1876-1909)

of square form with rounded corner, a shallow central circular well surrounded by four cusped shallow wells, repoussé decoration consisting of depictions of a priest holding a crook and a Bible in the central well, seated figures of the Four Evangelists or Church Fathers against ornate grounds of scrolling floral motifs in the four other wells, four arms projecting from the centre in the form of a cross, the arms decorated with the figures of saints and of winged putti, turquoise and deep blue enamel highlights, stamped with a tughra
