An Hispano-Moresque lustre pottery Dish
probably Manises, Spain, circa 1500-60

with sloping sides, decorated in a golden brownish lustre with a band of alternating palmettes and trefoils amidst scrolling floral motifs, the raised central boss decorated with a shield bearing a lion's head, surrounded by a band of three panels containing trefoils amidst scrollling floral motifs, verso with tightly spaced concentric lines surrounded by a band of stylised leaves and scrolls, with old collection label 'Galleria Simonetti, Roma'
