A "Golden Horde" slip-painted pottery Bowl
Sultanabad, Persia, late 13th/ 14th Century

with rounded sides, decorated in white, turquoise, cobalt-blue and black reserved on a grey ground, with a large four-petalled rosette, the interspaces filled with arabesque vines, the exterior with a frieze of lappet petals
20 cm.

This bowl belongs to a group of slip-painted bowls, a number of which depict a bird in flight. These so-called "Golden Horde" wares are attributable to the Sultanabad region.
