Footnotes

A.S. Melikian-Chirvani states that the inclusion of musicians within roundels on metalwork is a new addition 'to the earlier Iranian repertoire as we know it from Khorasan wares'. See Islamic Metalwork from the Iranian World, 8th-18th Centuries, London, 1982, no. 75, p. 169.
