A Khorasan silver-inlaid bronze Flat Dish
Persia, late 12th/ early 13th Century

circular with straight sides and flattened everted rim, the centre with a roundel depicting harpies amidst arabesques, the rim with a silver-inlaid band of kufic, the outer sides with cartouches of thuluth script with roundels containing birds
15cm. diam.; 98g.

Footnotes

The inscription reads as follows: on the rim in kufic, "With Good-fortune and Blessing and Wealth and Well-being and Happiness and Success and giving Victory and Honour and Ease and .... and (God's) Merch and Abundance and ... and Piety and Long-life to its owner"; and around the walls in cursive, "Glory and Prosperity and Wealth and Sympathy and Contentment and Health and Happiness and Repose and Sympathy and Healing to its owner".
