A Khorasan silver inlaid bronze Quill Rest
Persia, late 12th/ early 13th Century

comprising a circular tray with raised edge, domed central panel with rosette-shaped flattened finial, the tray with a band of cartouches containing silver inlaid calligraphy in thuluth with rosettes between, the central panel with a frieze of dots in silver, the knop with silver inlaid petals
9.7 cm. diam.

The inscription reads: "Glory and Long-life and Commendation and Praise and Generosity and Liberality and Modesty".
