This dish belongs to a group of Mesopotamian vessels with Fatimid designs. Two bowls from this group can be found in the Al-Sabah Collection, Kuwait (Oliver Watson, Ceramics from Islamic Lands, London, 2004, p. 187, cat. nos. E19 and E20). The second example, in particular, relates to the current lot.
