A rare Nishapur buffware pottery Cup
Persia, 10th Century

with tall, slightly flaring sides, the handle with double slot and thumbpiece, decorated in green, mustard yellow, tomato red and manganese on a natural ground, depicting a standing female figure holding a cup, the background filled with rosettes, the sides with rosette-filled lattice, the exterior with alternating panels containing stylised birds and contour panels
18 cm. max. diam.; 8.5 cm. high
